MDMA is also more commonly known as Ecstacy or Molly. It is a synthetic, psychoactive drug with a chemical structure similar to the stimulant MDA and the hallucinogen mescaline. MDMA is an illegal drug that acts as both a stimulant and psychedelic. Therefore producing an energizing effect. It also produces distortions in time and perception and enhanced enjoyment from tactile experiences.

MDMA stimulates the release of the neurotransmitter serotonin from brain neurons. Hereby producing a high that lasts from several minutes to an hour. The rewarding effects of this drug varies with the individual taking it, the dose and purity. As well as the environment in which it is taken.

Ecstacy can produce stimulating effects such as an enhanced sense of pleasure and self-confidence as well as increased energy. Its psychedelic effects include feelings of peacefulness, acceptance and empathy. This drug damages brain serotonin neurons. Psychological effects can include confusion, depression, sleep problems, anxiety, and paranoia. These effects can sometimes last for weeks after taking the drug.

Physical effects can include muscle tension, involuntary teeth clenching, nausea, blurred vision, faintness and chills or sweating.
